Does this means you should stop joining programs? Not at all... but you do need to change the way you promote them.
Establish Your Presence Online, such as community and forum web sites are always a good place to start.The truth of the matter is that there is risk involved with any business. You can brand yourself without putting your identity at risk. Many marketers use online business opportunities and programs because they think that they are more safe hiding behind someone else's business.
If you want to be successful in this industry, presenting your product/service, writing effective ads and being able to ask questions (selling) are part and parcel of the whole gig. Don't, can't and won't are NOT the ingredients for a successful online venture!
